INTER-TEL CS-5600 PROCESSING SERVER (PS-1)
This section identifies the parts, processes, and procedures required for installing the Inter-Tel
CS-5600 Processing Server (PS-1), part no. 580.5600. For processes and procedures required
to upgrade your current system, see “Upgrading System Software to Version 2.x” on
page 5-
146
.
Processing Server (PS-1) Description
The PS-1 is a Linux server that connects through a local area network (LAN) to the Inter-Tel CS-
5600 Base Server and provides call processing power for the expanded-capacity system. For a
functional description, see “Processing Server Characteristics” on
page 4-31
. For technical
descriptions see the
Specifications
chapter and “Network Environment Requirements” on
page 5-146
.
By providing additional call processing power, the PS-1 allows the Inter-Tel 5000 platform to
support more endpoints than the Inter-Tel CS-5200 or CS-5400 chassis in stand-alone mode.
For capacity details, see “System Endpoint Capacities” on
page 4-17
.
Licensing
Adding the PS-1 to the Inter-Tel 5000 platform requires, at a minimum, the following licensing:
•
Inter-Tel 5000 v2.0 software, part no. 840.0622
•
Inter-Tel CS-5600 License Base, part no. 840.0624
Additional licensing is required if upgrading a system from an earlier hardware version, if using
IP Networking, and/or adding certain endpoints. For details of required licensing, see “Licensing
for v2.x and Inter-Tel CS-5600 Upgrades” on
page 3-15
.
NOTE
The programming portion of the SLM-4 installation procedure may be
performed in a local session of DB Programming and then restored to the
system using the Database Restore utility.
IMPORTANT
When installing v2.0 software, the license must match the system CPU
type. An Inter-Tel CS-5200 system requires a CS-5200 license; an
Inter-Tel CS-5400 system requires a CS-5400 license; and, an Inter-Tel
CS-5600 system requires a CS-5600 license.
