Figure A-1 on
page A-2
shows the networking types: IP and T1/PRI connections. Each type can
communicate directly with another node that uses the same connection type. For example:
•
Phoenix and Austin can speak directly to each other through the IP Resource Application
and the IP network.
•
Austin and Dallas can speak directly to each other through the T1 connection (PRI).
•
San Diego and Dallas can speak directly to each other through the IP Resource
application and the IP Network.
Nodes with different networking types can also communicate with each other, but not directly. To
communicate with a dissimilar node, the call must be routed through a node with the same
networking type. For example, if Phoenix needs to call Dallas, the call must first go through
Austin. For Austin to speak with San Diego, the call must first go through Dallas. With proper
planning and design of call routing patterns, an IP private network can be optimized such that
no more than one hop is required between dissimilar nodes.
IMPORTANT
You must have the PRI software feature license, part no. 840.0227, to
configure the T1M or T1M-2 module for PRI use.
