Chapter 5: Installation

Procedure: Upgrading the System to Version 2.4

Upgrade All

. The buttons at the bottom of the page provide the following functions:

Click 

Reset

 to clear selected check boxes and clear the TFTP address boxes.

 •

Click 

Update

 to retrieve the current packages information from the TFTP server 

and update what needs to be upgraded and what can be installed. 

 •

Click 

Install

 to upgrade only the packages selected.

 •

Click 

Upgrade All

 to upgrade all packages newer than any existing packages.

After the upgrade process is complete, the system reboots automatically. Wait for the 
system to reboot before continuing. 

Diagnostics or log files are also updated for the application, system file, or utility 
upgraded. For specific information or messages that appear about the files and 
applications upgraded or installed, see the Diagnostics and Troubleshooting chapterin 
the 

Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide 

(part no: 580.8006).

Restart the browser and start another Admin Web Session, after upgrading from v2.3 or 
earlier version. This allows all upgrade changes to take affect and to access the 
redesigned Admin Web Session pages. The new Web Session page appears, as shown 
in the following example.

Do one of the following:

If you want to make the Inter-Tel IP endpoint firmware available on the onboard 
TFTP server, do the following in the new Admin Web Session interface:

a.)

Click 

Update

 at the bottom of the page.

b.)

Select the check box for the Inter-Tel IP endpoint firmware. 

c.)

Click 

Install

 at the bottom of the page.

d.)

Continue to “Inter-Tel IP Endpoint Configuration” on 

page 5-161

 •

If you have a CS-5600 (PS1), repeat this upgrade procedure for that server.

 •

If you want to remove voice prompts you do not need, click the link for the voice 
prompt file name, and then click 

Remove

.

 •

If installing Mitel IP endpoints, continue to “Installing Mitel IP Endpoints” on 

page 5-

IMPORTANT

If installing voice prompts, keep in mind space limitations on the 
compact flash-type Inter-Tel memory card. If you no longer want a 
particular language prompt set, remove it and install the desired 
language prompt package.
