Model 8690
The Model 8690 multi-protocol endpoint has a touch screen that displays feature, dialpad, and
menu buttons. It supports ITP or SIP mode using 100Base-TX interfaces. The Model 8690 is
configured to use ITP mode by default. For details about ITP and SIP modes, see
page 5-115
.

The Model 8690 includes the following connections points and options:
•
LAN/POWER Jack
: Connects to an external power supply or a network hub/switch.
•
PC Ports 1-3
: Connect to PCs or any other 100Base-T Ethernet devices. The speeds on
the single uplink and three downlink ports are independent from each other and auto-
negotiable.
•
Headset/Handset Jack
:
Connects to a headset or handset.
•
SPKR Jack
:
Connects to a speaker and supports mono for IP endpoint and stereo for
Windows CE playback.
•
MIC Jack
:
Connects to a microphone equipped with a 3.5mm plug.
•
Reset Button
:
Resets the endpoint when pressed and released quickly.
•
CF Port
: Connects to a matchbook-sized compact flash-type memory card that can be
used for copying music, pictures, etc. to the Model 8690. The card also can be used for
additional memory.
•
PCMCIA Port
: Connects to a credit card-sized memory card manufactured to the
standards of the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association.
•
USB HOST Port
: Connects to a standard Universal Serial Bus keyboard, mouse, etc. For
details about how to connect a keyboard and/or mouse, see the applicable
Model 8690

NOTE
If you press and hold the Reset button until the four LEDs on the front of the
endpoint (Message Lamp) start blinking, the system defaults the endpoint
configuration (such as the configuration TFTP URL).
