6.
If necessary
, change the endpoint ring tone by performing the steps described in the
Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide
(part no: 580.8006).
7.
If necessary
, replace the endpoint paper template with one labeled to match the
programmed feature buttons.
8.
If necessary
, adjust the viewing angle. The Model 8000 series digital endpoints allow you
to adjust the viewing angle. If you position the endpoint viewing angle to 60° or greater,
flip the handset hanger to the horizontal position.
Performing the Digital Endpoint Self-Test
Perform the following procedure for the Executive, Professional, Standard, and Associate
Display models, or the Axxess or Eclipse Basic Digital endpoints. For the procedure to perform
the self-test on the Model 8500 series endpoints, see
page 5-124
.
To perform the digital endpoint self-test:
1.
While pressing the asterisk (*) and pound/hash (#) buttons, unplug and replace the
endpoint line cord.
2.
Release the buttons. The endpoint rings momentarily. Display endpoints show a dark
display—all pixels lit.
3.
Lift and replace the handset. The endpoint rings momentarily. Display endpoints show a
blank display—no pixels lit.
4.
Lift and replace the handset. The endpoint rings momentarily and all LED-equipped
buttons light. Display endpoints show TESTING LED MATRIX. If any of the LEDs do not
light, return the endpoint for repair.
5.
Lift and replace the handset. The endpoint rings momentarily and all of the LEDs go out.
Display endpoints show TESTING KEY MATRIX NN, where NN is a two-digit number.
6.
One at a time, press each of the buttons on the endpoint in any order. If the button is
functioning properly, a key tone (or a DTMF tone for Executive and Professional keypad
buttons) is heard and, on display endpoints, a specific code is shown. The correct code
for each button appears in Figure 5-55 on
page 5-126
. If the signal is not heard or the
displayed code is incorrect, the button is faulty, and you should return the endpoint for
repair.
7.
Lift and replace the handset. The speaker tones are broadcast over the speakerphone
speaker. Display endpoints show TESTING SPEAKER TONES.
8.
Lift and replace the handset. Tones of various volume levels, from softest to loudest, are
broadcast over the speakerphone speaker. Display endpoints show TESTING
SPEAKER VOLUME.
9.
Lift the handset, and then press and release the hookswitch. The handset tones are
broadcast over the handset receiver. Display endpoints show TESTING HANDSET
TONES.
10.
Place the handset in the cradle. The endpoint rings momentarily and it takes
approximately five seconds for the endpoint to return to normal operation. Display
endpoints show TESTING COMPLETED! for several seconds, then, as described in step
4 on
page 5-123
, the endpoint identification displays for several seconds.
11.
Replace the endpoint if faulty.
IMPORTANT
If the endpoint watchdog timer fails, the TESTING COMPLETED!
display is followed by a WATCHDOG ERROR display and eight short
bursts of ring tone. Replace the defective endpoint.
