By default, an interface sends up to three RIP packets every 20 milliseconds.

Parameters
ip-address
: IP address of a RIP neighbor, in dotted decimal format.
Description
Use the
peer
command to specify the IP address of a neighbor in the non-broadcast multi-access
(NBMA) network, where routing updates destined for the peer are unicast, rather than multicast or
broadcast.
Use the
undo peer
command to remove the IP address of a neighbor.
By default, no neighbor is specified.
Note that you need not use the
peer
ip-address
command when the neighbor is directly connected;
otherwise the neighbor may receive both the unicast and multicast (or broadcast) of the same routing
information.
