RELEASE 4.X FCP CONVERSION INSTRUCTIONS
17-7
Release 4.X
XC1000 Service
To calculate whether enough user records are available, use the following
example:
1. Retrieve values at offsets 11 and 12 from record 0. At the SMT Main
Menu prompt, type the date in mmdd format, and press
Return
. At
the
>
prompt, type
rr0
and press
Return
. At the
>
prompt, type
d11
and press
Return
.
For example, consider 370C as the value in offsets 11 and 12 of
record 0.
2. Transpose values in offsets 11 and 12; 370C transposed is 0C37.
3. Convert 0C37 hexadecimal to a decimal value; 0C37 converted to
decimal is 3127.
4. Subtract 127 (decimal) to determine the total user records currently
initialized; 3127 minus 127 equals 3000.
5. Retrieve the number of nodes from SMT menu 15.1.2; for example,
suppose there are 10 nodes.
6. Multiply 10 nodes by 2, which equals 20. This means that 20 user
records are needed for node conversion.
7. Add 300 to compensate for potentially allocated community records or
attendant schedules; 20 plus 300 equals 320.
8. At the SMT Main Menu prompt, type the date in mmdd format and
press
Return
. At the
>
prompt, type
reformat
and press
Return
.
Select option 0 to display the number of assigned user records.
9. Add the number of assigned user records to the number obtained in
step 7. For example, if there are 1028 assigned user records, add
1028 and 320 to determine how many user records are needed for
the FCP conversion; 1028 plus 320 equals 1348.
10. Divide the total needed user records for the FCP conversion (step 9)
by the total user records currently initialized (step 4); 1348 divided
by 3000 equals 0.45 or 45%. This value is the percentage of assigned
user records.
If the percentage of assigned user records is greater than 0.95 (95%), do
not perform the FCP conversion. Reschedule the FCP conversion for a time
when the user-record-availability requirement can be met.
If there are insufficient user records, expand the user-record allocation as
follows:
1. Run validity checks and garbage collect (refer to Section 17.6.2).
2. At
ENTER BOOT COMMAND;
, type
^DI
(
Ctrl
and
D
, then
I
) to display
the INSTALL MENU.
3. Select the number for
System Expansion Utility
and follow the
instructions on the screen. Increase user-record allocation to its
maximum.
