STARTUP AND INITIALIZATION
4-39
Edition One
XC1000 Service
-
An extension number of a business telephone system
-
A direct-dial number in a switch
-
A logical terminal number (LTN) that is used with some integrations
Perform the following steps to enter port information in menu 4:
1. Enter the telephone or LTN number next to the appropriate port-
identification code, under the heading
Extension/Phone No.
This
entry can be up to 10 digits long. For information about data-link
integrations and in-band integrations, refer to the appropriate con-
figuration note.
2. To allow incoming calls through the port to XC1000, enter a
Y
in the
I
column. To deny incoming calls on that port, enter
N
. Entering
N
always gives the port a ring-no-answer status.
3. To permit the outcalling and paging features on a port, enter a
Y
in
the
O
column. Enter
N
in the
O
column to deny outcalling on the
port.
4. To take a port out of service temporarily, enter an
N
in both the
I
and
O
columns. This action prevents calls through this port until a
Y
is
entered in one or both columns.
A service person should also take
this particular port out of service at the switch.
5. Column
T
in menu 4 refers to the telephone-answering capability of
XC1000. Menu 4 allows or denies incoming access by nonsubscribers.
Enter a
Y
in column
T
to allow nonsubscribers access to a specific
port. This is used for receiving busy and ring-no-answer forwarded
calls routed to the personal greetings of subscribers.
If a
Y
has been entered in column
T
, then a
Y
must be entered in the
I
column. Enter
N
to deny access to nonsubscribers.
The option of a
Y
or an
N
in the
T
column allows companies to imple-
ment several different telephone-number line appearances for XC1000.
An
N
in this column allows subscribers to access their mailboxes directly.
6. In column
M
, enter
Y
for message waiting or
N
to deny message waiting.
Entries under
M
allow or disallow message-waiting information to be sent
to the switch, where message-waiting indicators are set on subscriber’s
telephones. Refer to the applicable integration configuration note for
detailed information about the specific switch.
If ACP integration is used, it is not necessary to enter a
Y
in this column.
This is done in menu 4.2.
7. In column
N
, enter
Y
to allow this port to place calls within the voice-
messaging network. Enter
N
to deny network access.
8. Each XC1000 port can be configured for outcalling to a paging
terminal. To allow pager outcalling on a particular port, enter
Y
in
column
P
and
O
;
to disallow pager outcalling, enter an
N
.
