8-7
Edition One
XC1000 Service
5. The following messages and prompts appear:
Waiting for lines to clear...
All lines are cleared.
Card Slot XX disabled.
All lines are cleared.
6. The following prompt appears only when replacing cards in an analog
card group:
Please “BUSY OUT” the disabled card.
7. If a Busy-Out Controller is installed, make the selected relay channel
busy. Refer to section 11.5 for information about using the Busy-Out
Controller. The following prompt appears:
Please replace card XX, reinsert card XX
Press “Q” to quit or any other key to continue:
If a card in an analog line-card group is being replaced, the reinsert
prompt does not appear; the reinsert prompt only appears during
replacement of a card in a digital line-card group.
8. Open the doors on the front of the cabinet.
9. Put on the antistatic wrist strap. The wrist strap is located in the
lower –48-Vdc power-control slot, toward the front of the cabinet.
The card to be replaced and the card or cards to be
reinserted must be pulled out from the backplane for at
least 30 seconds. If these cards are not out for 30 seconds,
the XC1000 might not recognize that the cards have been
removed.
Take care not to cause card, ejector, or backplane-pin
damage, and insert the ATIC quickly when replacing it. If
an ATIC is inserted too slowly, calls could be dropped by
the other ATIC in the line-card group.
Caution!
10. Use the card extractors to remove the card to be replaced. When
replacing an ATIC, the LEDs on the DLC to the immediate right of the
ATIC are illuminated. When replacing a T1 TIC, the LEDs on all of the
DLCs in the line-card group are illuminated.
Do not force or bend the card. Handle only the sheet-metal stiffener
attached to the card. Do not touch the components or the edge
connectors. Place all removed cards in antistatic bags. Do not try to
repair a card.
11. Follow the instructions on the screen to reinsert all appropriate cards,
including the DLC associated with the TIC (if TIC was replaced). Do
not force or bend the cards. Handle only the sheet-metal stiffeners
attached to the cards. Do not completely remove the cards. Do not
touch the components or the connectors.
