TROUBLESHOOTING
6-29
Edition One
XC1000 Service
6.3.2.8
Power-Supply Failure.
This alarm is activated because of total loss from
both power supplies of +5-Vdc or +12-Vdc power in redundant XC1000s, or
total loss of +5-Vdc or +12-Vdc power in nonredundant XC1000s. For total
+5-Vdc loss, the
SA
and
5V
LEDs light. For total +12-Vdc loss, the
SA
and
12V
LEDs light. This power loss generates both an SA and an OOS
alarm, and XC1000 restarts. When power is restored, menu 13.8 indicates
the SA and OOS alarms. To clear a power-supply failure, check the circuit
breakers on the front of the cabinet. Also check the breakers on the back
of the +12-Vdc power supplies. If required, replace the power supplies.
Refer to Chapter Eight for the replacement procedure.
6.3.3 Non-Service-Affecting (NSA) Alarms
NSA alarms are generated by both hardware and software. Hardware-
generated alarms clear when the problems causing them are resolved.
Software-generated alarms persist until the problems causing them are
resolved and the alarms are cleared in menu 13.8, the Review Current
Alarm Status screen.
Non-service-affecting alarms occur under the following conditions:
Disk Space Low
is activated when 20% of the message space remains.
CDR Space Low
is activated when 20% of the buffer space for Call
Detail Records (CDR) remains.
Status Log Space Low
is activated when 20% of the status-log buffer
space remains.
Entry in Status Log
is activated when an NSA alarm is recorded in
the status log.
Yellow-Line Temperature
indicates excessive, but not critical,
operating temperatures above 45
°
C (110
°
F) on the logic card or disk
or above 35
°
C (95
°
F) ambient.
Partial Fan Failure
is activated when one or two of the fans in the
logic bay or in the disk bay fail.
Partial Power Failure
is activated because of a p5-Vdc or
+12-Vdc loss in redundant XC1000s.
If an NSA alarm occurs, refer to menu 13.8, the Review Current Alarm
Status screen, or the monitor card LED indicators for further information.
The NSA alarms and the resulting monitor-card LED indications are listed
in Table 6-8. The
Generated by
column shows whether the alarm is
hardware- or software-generated.
If the
NSA
and
DC
LEDs are lit on the monitor card, refer to menu 13.8,
the Review Current Alarm Status screen, to determine the exact nature of
the alarm. Non-service-affecting alarms are described in sections 6.3.3.1
through 6.3.3.7.
