STATUS LOG
7-19
Edition One
XC1000 Service
Correct status-code 70 or 72 by performing the following steps:
1. If multiple 70 and 72 status-code entries indicate different drives in
the same file system, replace the indicated file card. Refer to section
8.3.1 for the procedure to replace a file card. If the same drive is
indicated repeatedly, continue to step 2.
2. Call the Octel Communications Technical Assistance Center and have
the service option enabled.
3. At the
Enter Menu Selection Number:
prompt on the SMT Main
Menu, enter the month and day, in the format
mmdd
. For example,
enter December 15 as 1215, or March 21 as 0321.
4. Run validity checks and garbage collect on the affected drive (refer to
sections 8.4.6 and 8.4.7 for procedures). When offset 47 contains a
value of
02
or
04
(Table 7-9), step 4 is the final step. Otherwise,
proceed to step 5.
5. Check the status log for a status-code CE. If a status-code CE has
been generated, the file card probably cannot read anything on the
drive. Skip to step 12 to correct the problem, otherwise, proceed to
step 6.
6. Shut down the system (menu 13.1).
7. At the boot command, press
^DT
to access the drive-test utility menu
and run a long test on the affected drive (refer to section 9.6.1 for
procedures).
8. If the drive test fails, CB messages are displayed on the system-man-
ager terminal. If the test has failed because of a hard error, the CB IN
message displays the location of the failed record in offsets 07 through
0C, as shown in Table 7-10.
