Capturing Video Material

You can perform automatic splitting after you have captured video material from a

digital-video device.

Choose the material you want to split automatically.

In the Material palette, click the “Video” tab, then click the material you want to

process with DV Auto Split. The color changes to red.

Select the “DV Auto Split” menu item.

From the Material menu, select “DV Auto Split.” Automatic splitting starts and a

window showing the progress appears. When automatic splitting ends, the window

disappears.

you can also select the “DV Auto Split” menu item by right-clicking.

Confirm the split material.

The material split cut by cut appears in the Material palette, arranged after the

original material.

Automatic splitting does not delete the original material. The process only splits the material

— the content remains exactly the same. Keeping both the unsplit material and the split

material requires twice as much hard-disk space. To save hard-disk space, you may prefer to

delete the unsplit material (that is, the original material).

After the DV Auto Split operation, the material is arranged in the Material palette, in the

location following the original material.
