Performing Detailed Editing on the Timeline Palette

At the Timeline Palette, you can change the length of material directly by dragging

with the mouse.

The results after the change are different depending on whether you drag with the

mouse pointer lined up with the upper portion or with the lower portion of the

material. The different forms of the mouse pointer when lined up with the upper or

lower portion of the material are shown below.

When you lengthen (extend) material, in both cases the subsequent material is shifted toward

the end by an amount corresponding to the new length.

Changing the Length of Material on the Timeline Palette

Shortening the material while in this state

leaves a blank space where the shortened

portion used to be. Also, the position of sub

sequent material does not change.
