Performing Detailed Editing on the Timeline Palette
Placing Synchronized Audio Recording on Audio Tracks
You can extract synchronized audio from video material in the Material palette or on
the Timeline Palette and place it in Audio tracks. Let’s try using synchronized audio
to perform split editing (advance or retard) for audio. When you place synchronized
audio on an Audio track, the synchronized audio, unlike other audio material, is
displayed in blue. Audio material captured from a CD or mike is green.

Copy the synchronized audio recording.
Hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard and use the mouse to drag the video
material containing the synchronized audio to an empty Audio track. The audio
alone is copied and placed on the Audio track. It is synchronized with the beginning
of the source material, and remains the timing.

Advance the synchronized audio.
Change the In point and the Out point in the audio material. Move the mouse pointer
to a location near the left edge of the audio material, and when the shape of the
pointer changes to
, drag with the mouse to extend the audio material toward the
beginning.

Retard the synchronized audio.
Move the mouse pointer to location near the right edge of the audio material, and
when the shape of the pointer changes to
, drag with the mouse to extend the
audio material toward the end.
