Performing Detailed Editing on the Timeline Palette

You can use the T-bar on the DV-7DLC to switch the video material placed on the

Main Video track and the Insert Video track. This feature is called "A/B roll editing."

Using A/B roll editing lets you take the pictures shot at the same time by two video

cameras and switch them with the timing you want, enabling you to perform

sensitive editing for live performances and the like. A/B roll editing can use only the

Timeline Palette.

Playing back the Timeline plays only the synchronized audio on the Main Video track. If you

also want to use the synchronized audio on the Insert Video track, refer to page 323.

Place video material on the Main Video track and the Insert Video track.

Drag video material from the Material palette to the Main Video track and the Insert

Video track. When you do this, arrange the two pieces of video material so that they

overlap.

Apply double exposure to the video on the Insert Video track.

From the compositing effects (Composite FX) on the Effect palette, find Double

Exposure and drag it to the video material you placed on the Insert Video track in

step 1. The Preview Window then displays the composited picture of the video on

the Main Video track and the Insert Video track.

(Composite FX)" (

Click the A/B Roll button.

Clicking the A/B Roll button on the left side of the window displays the A/B Roll

palette. The A/B Preview Window appears and displays the video at the location of

the position bar on the Main Video track and the Insert Video track. Clicking the

"Play" button at this time displays the video on the Main Video track and the Insert

Video track in the A/B Preview Window.

You can also display the A/B Roll palette by pressing the "A/B ROLL" button on the DV-

7DLC.

Moving the T-bar on the DV-7DLC switches the video displayed on the television monitor.
