Chapter 10 Virtual Interface Management
EtherChannel Management Window
You can select one chassis and more than one etherchannel at a time from the object list on the left
side of the window.
The CCSM EtherChannel MST Config window contains two areas, MST Apply/Remove and MST
EtherChannel Interface Details.
MST Apply/Remove:
–
Available MST Instances—Displays the list of available MST instances.
–
MST Instance—Indicates the MST instance number, 0 to 15, to be added to or removed from
the list of available MST instances.
–
Port Priority—Indicates the MST port priority for the MST instance. Valid port priority values
are 0 to 240.
–
Cost—Indicates the MST port cost for the MST instance. Valid cost values are 1 to 200000000.
–
Apply MST—Adds the specified MST instance to the etherchannel.
–
Remove MST—Removes the specified MST instance from the etherchannel. For complete
removal of the MST instance, values for Port Priority and Cost must be specified as well.
MST EtherChannel Interface Details:
–
MST Interface Panel—Displays the list of MST interfaces included in the selected instance.
–
Instance Port Priority—Port priority for the MST instance applied to the etherchannel.
–
Instance Port Cost—Port cost for the MST instance applied to the etherchannel.
Access Mode
The Access Mode area provides the following information:
•
Port Priority—Describes the STP port priority of this interface. This is a metric used to represent
the location of an interface in a network topology. It is used to determine which port will be placed
in a blocking state when two or more ports are part of a loop. The default value is 128 in all versions
of IOS, 32 in all versions of CatOS. The valid values are:
–
Native IOS 12.1(6)E and earlier:Integer (0..248) [increments of 8]
–
Native IOS 12.1(8a)E and later:Integer (0..252) [increments of 4]
–
CatOS 6.3:Integer(0..63)
–
CatOS 7.1:Integer(1..63)
•
Port Cost—Describes the STP port cost for this interface. The port cost is a metric used to represent
the speed of the interface. STP will use this value in determining the preferred path when a loop is
detected in the network.
Note
On a Hybrid or pure CatOS device, the port cost cannot be configured directly. The actual port
cost used is a calculated value and is the one being displayed.
