Chapter 6 Chassis Management
Chassis Management Window
Status
The Status area provides the following information:
•
Power Supply Table—Indicates the following for each power supply module available within the
selected chassis:
–
Description—Provides a description of the power supply. This attribute can have the following
values: Power Supply 1 or Power Supply 2.
–
State—Indicates the current state of the power supply module. This attribute can have the
following values: Normal or Not Present.
–
Source—Indicates the type of power supply. This attribute can have the following values: ac,
dc, or unknown.

Fan Status—Indicates the following for each fan module available within the selected chassis:

Description—Provides a description of the power supply. This attribute can have the following
values: Power Supply 1 or Power Supply 2.
–
State—Indicates the current state of the power supply module. This attribute can have the
following values: Other (unknown), Normal, High (minor problem), or Excessive (major
problem).
Note
If this attribute has a value other than normal, an alarm is generated.
•
Temperature—Provides status of the core of the chassis. This attribute can have the following
values:

Description—Provides a description of the power supply. This attribute can have the following
values: Power Supply 1 or Power Supply 2.

Current Status Value—Current temperature value.
–
Threshold Value—Highest temperature value that the chassis may reach before an automatic
shutdown occurs.

Last Shutdown Value—Indicates the chassis temperature value at the time of the most recent
device shutdown,
Performance Tab
Note
To collect some of the statistics in the Performance tab, the running configuration of the switch is
modified to add the following command to each interface: rmon collection stats <n> owner monitor
The Performance tab of the Chassis Management window consists of a single area, Performance
Logging. The Performance Logging area allows users to turn on performance logging for the chassis
attributes as well as the attributes of all the chassis elements.
•
Start Performance Logging (Chassis Only) button—Turns performance data logging on the chassis
object.
•
Start Performance Logging (All Chassis Elements) button—Turns performance data logging on all
the chassis elements. This includes all chassis performance attributes, all supervisor performance
attributes and all interface performance attributes.
