When you are in the TYPE mode, you need to insert new paper before typing.
The first typing line is determined by the top margin and the last line by the
bottom margin (or page end). When you insert new paper with the
jjf (Paper
Insert)
key, the typewriter automatically loads it until the first printing line
comes to the printing mechanism. When you reach the last typing line, the
typewriter locks up and urges you to eject the paper and insert new one.
Changing Page Size (TYPE Mode Only)
Start Set
The default top margin is set to one inch You can change it and set the first
typing line on another line.
Follow these steps to change the top margin:

Insert paper by pressing the $ (P aper Insert) key.

Move the paper to the desired position by pressing any paper feed key of
t h e ( C u r s o r Down), ' f (Cursor Up), { (Index), j (Reverse Index),
CODE + J (Micro Index),
and
CODE + J (Micro Reverse Index)
keys.
The top margin can be set to a minimum of 1 inch (line 6) and a maximum
of 6 inches (line 36). There must be about 5 lines between the top and
bottom margins.
The ^ (C ursor Up) and
(C ursor Down) keys move the paper one line up
and down respectively.
The J (Index) and { (Reverse Index) keys move the paper 1/12 o f an
inch up and down respectively, independent of the selected line spacing;
the distance of movement is 1/16 o f an inch when the special line spacing
mode is selected by the SPECIA L key. If these keys are held down, the
movement is repeated until they are released.
The
CODE + J (Micro Index)
and
CODE + J (M icro Reverse Index)
keys move the paper 1/48 o f an inch up and down respectively independent
of the selected line spacing.

When the carrier is on the selected line, press the
S SET (Start Set)
key.
If any other keys are pressed or the top margin setting does not comply
with the conditions mentioned before, the typewriter beeps with no top
margin set.
