Electronic Spelling Dictionary and
Thesaurus
Before you start using the electronic spelling dictionary and thesaurus, make
sure that the necessary hardware and software ate installed. The electronic-
spelling dictionary SP-508 and the electronic spelling dictionary/thesaurus
SP-509CT are optionally available. You may need to add some name seals to
the keys. Refer to the User's Guide of each option.
The main spell-check dictionary of SP-508 contains 70,000 English words and
SP-509CT contains 70,000 American English words. You can add up to 432
words to the supplemental dictionary for spell checking. The optional
SP-509CT also contains 41,000 American English synonyms.

Electronic Spelling Dictionary
The electronic spelling dictionary has the following five main functions.
• Interactive Spell Check Function — Checks words interactively while
you are typing.
• Find and Correct Function — Checks all the typed words at a time.
• Scan Check Function — Checks the word specified on the display.
• Dictionary Spell Function — Checks the word you type in the entry area.
• Add All Function — Add all the suspected words into the supplemental
dictionary.
The following table shows the working modes where you can activate the
spell-check function. The symbol "O" indicates that the function can work in
the specified working modes. The symbol "X" indicates that the function
cannot work in the specified working modes.
