Registration Reference Manual
Deducted Patient – DP
Two numbers (the patient’s old NHS number and the new number) may be displayed
side by side. The highlighted number is the active NHS number, and this is used to
identify the patient on the ‘live’ database. The other number is the patient’s alternative
NHS number, which is displayed for information only.
Once the new NHS number has been made active, it cannot be amended or deleted
from the system by the Authority. For details on activating the national NHS number,
refer to the ‘New NHS Number Reference Manual’.
Active old format numbers may be amended and deleted on screen.
NOTE
Ø
You can initiate an advanced trace against the PDS using Ctrl T from the
Key field, but only if the patient displayed on the screen has a 10 digit
NHS number in this field.
Allocated NHS Number
If NHSCR cannot find an NHS number for a patient, a new NHS number will be
‘allocated’ to the patient. Immigrants registering for the first time are typically given
‘allocated’ numbers. Previously recognised on the system as Z numbers, allocated
numbers now follow the new 10-character format for all NHS numbers.
An allocated number can now be identified on the
system by the prefix
A
. (The example opposite
illustrates an allocated number.)
Birth Date. . 20.11.1967
NHS No. . . A 345 728 8211
Sex . . . . . F
As with all new format NHS numbers, a new allocated number cannot be amended or
deleted from the system by the Authority.
Temporary NHS Number
A temporary number cannot be assigned to deducted patients.
Sex
M
– Male,
F
– Female,
I
– Indeterminate
Do not amend the
Sex
field if contraceptive service data exists for this patient.
Date Added
The date the patient was added to his/her GP’s list.
Birthplace
The patient’s place of birth.
Reason for FP69 Action text
The reason for the FP69 status entered on the AD screen. This information will only
appear if details were entered on the AD screen and if the patient was deducted via the
FP69 application.
This text cannot be amended.
Drugs Dispensed
Y
– yes to indicate that drugs are being dispensed.
N
– no or a blank space if drugs are not being dispensed.
If you enter
Y
, the system will check that the GP is a registered dispensing doctor. If
the GP is not registered, the
Y
indicator will be rejected.
