Deductions – Introduction
Version: 2.16
Section 4
1-1
Deducted Patients
Patients may be deducted from the ‘live’ database via the DL, NX screens, the FP69
application or GP Links. Once a patient has been deducted, his/her details will remain
on the ‘deducted’ database until deleted using the DP screen.
The functions of the DL and NX screens are as follows.
DL
¾
The Authority may manually queue patients for deduction on the DL
screen.
NX
NHSCR
¾
NHSCR may send a batch of proposed deductions to your authority,
with one of the reason codes listed below:
E
Embarkation
R
Removal
S/D
Service
dependant
SER
Services
D
Death
M/H
Mental
hospital
These proposed deductions will be queued on the NX screen. All
deductions proposed by NHSCR (apart from E – Embarkation
deductions
1
) may be performed from the NX screen.
NOTE
¾
If a notification of deduction because of the patient’s death is sent by
NHSCR, and if the patient has already been deducted by a member of HA
staff but with a different date of death, then the date of death sent by
NHSCR will automatically overwrite that entered at the HA.
GP Links
¾
Linked GPs may request the following deductions over the network:
D
– Death,
E
– Embarkation and
O/R
– Other Reason.
For further details, refer to GP Links documentation.
FP69
¾
The FP69 application can automatically deduct patients who cannot be
traced.
If there is some doubt as to whether a patient is still resident within the
area covered by the relevant GP practice, an FP69 status and expiry
date will be established on the AD screen for that patient.
Depending on the ‘Link’ status of the GP, the FP69 setting will either
produce a label for the FP69 form or generate an equivalent electronic
FP69 Prior Notification transaction
2
for issue to the patient’s assumed
GP.
1
Embarkation deductions must be entered manually, on the DL screen.
2
Provided that the patient’s GP practice is "linked" and able to receive electronic FP69 Prior Notification
transactions - as specified on the LC Screen for a Partnership.
