Forename is Temporary – BB

BB (Forename is Temporary) Screen
The BB screen is used to identify patient records on the NHAIS system where the
patient has been initially registered with a temporary forename (e.g. ‘BABY’, ‘BOY’,
‘INFANT’, ‘GIRL’, ‘TWIN’) and this has not been updated subsequently with a
‘proper’ forename (which may now be available on the PDS).
A process, which runs daily at midnight, will identify those patients which should be
displayed on the screen. A PDS trace is also performed to see if the patient’s first
forename is no longer temporary and sets the status of the record to ‘P’. If the PDS
has a temporary first forename, the status of the record is left blank.
You can then perform a trace on the BB screen using Ctrl T from the Act (action)
field. If the patient now has a ‘proper’ forename, you can call up the ID screen using
the fast freeze facility from the
Act field for that patient and make the changes. Once
you ‘unfreeze’ from the ID screen back to the BB screen, the system will mark the
record as complete and it will no longer be displayed.
NOTE

PDS tracing will not work on the Northern Irish NHAIS system.
If the patient legitimately has a temporary forename you can mark the record with a
status of
C (complete).
You can add notes via a pop-up box from the Notes field – accessed using Ctrl L – to
indicate any progress or the results of any enquiries.
Whenever the process successfully identifies a new record, or it finds that the PDS
value has changed
away from a temporary forename to any other value for an existing
record, an advisory email will be sent to all staff within the DEMDQ email group (as
defined on the SP-M screen).
Using the BB Screen
To call up the BB screen, enter a key of BB and one of the following qualifiers:

blank – displays all outstanding records where the status is not ‘complete’
•
I – displays all records which have notes
•
P – displays all records with a status of ‘P’ where the record has a first
forename other than a temporary forename on the PDS
•
N – displays all records where no status has been set; both the local NHAIS
system and PDS hold the same first forename
•
practice code – displays records for the practice, where the status is not
‘complete’
•
practice code,I – displays records for the practice which have notes
•
practice code,P – displays records for the practice where the status is ‘P’
•
practice code,N – displays records for the practice where no status is set
