Registration Reference Manual
SYSTEM PARAMETERS – SP
If you wish to delete a prefix enter
D
in the
Actn
field and press
Enter
.
The screen will allow multiple deletions of prefixes, but will only accept one
amendment at a time.
NOTE
The screen will remove any space characters from the end of a prefix so if
you have box numbers such as AA 0000001 you will need to specify a
prefix of AA 0.
For prefixes that relate to non-local box numbers, you can also specify up to a
maximum of 10 lengths for box number prefixes.
If a length is specified for a prefix, the system will check that any box number
specified on the MR, RB or ER screens has a value with exactly the number of
characters specified in this field.
For example, if you have a box prefix value of CROW5 and a corresponding length
value of
9
, validation will check that all entered box numbers beginning with the
prefix have exactly nine characters. In this example CROW56789 (with nine
characters) would be a valid box number. However, CROW5123 (with only eight
characters) and CROW590909 (ten characters) would not be valid box numbers.
NOTE
Length is not a mandatory field; so, if a length value is specified,
validation will ensure that the box number has the correct number of
characters. If no length value is specified, no such length validation will
be undertaken.
