Prepare the Server for Cold Service (Oracle ILOM CLI)
This procedure is performed locally and requires physical access to the server front and back
panels.
1.
Open an SSH session and at the command line log in to the SP Oracle ILOM CLI.
Log in as a user with root or administrator privileges. For example:
ssh root@
ipaddress
where ipaddress is the IP address of the server module SP. Type a password when prompted.

The Oracle ILOM CLI prompt appears:

To
turn on
the Locate Button/LED indicator, see “Turn On the Locate Button/LED
Remotely (Oracle ILOM CLI)” on page 120 .
The
set /System/ locator_indicator=on
command activates the Locate Button/LED indicator
LED on the server front panel.

“Managing the Locate Button/LED” on page 120 . To turn off the
Locate Button/LED indicator, type:
set /System/ locator_indicator=off
.
3.
Power down the server gracefully.
For graceful power off, see “Power Down the Server Gracefully (Oracle ILOM
CLI)” on page 112 . The
stop /System
command powers off the server to Standby power
mode.

4. Once at the service location, press the Locate Button/LED button to deactivate
the indicator.

5. Set up an ESD-safe space at the service location.
Set up a space where you can set components. See “Performing Electrostatic Discharge and
Static Prevention Measures” on page 98 .
6. Disconnect the four server power cords from the AC power block.
Caution -
Data loss. Removing the power cords when the server is in Main power mode results
in an immediate shut down of the server. Do not remove the power cord if the server is in Main
power mode. Power off the server to Standby power mode first.
7. Perform service removal and installation procedures on components.
