Appendix I: Matrox Iris portal website details
Web server settings page
The
Web server settings
page contains configuration options for your Matrox
Iris GT web server.
The Matrox Iris GT system password setting is always used in pair with the default
unique system user name (admin). This name and system password combination
must be used in any attempt for authentication from a service accessed from your
Matrox Iris GTwhen using basic authentication mode. By default, the system
password is blank.
•
General & authentication settings
. Specifies the web server settings.
Field name
Description
Web server security settings
Specifies the authentication settings for the web server of your Matrox Iris GT.
Authentication Options
. Allow you to set your authentication method.
•
Use NTLM authentication protocol
. NT LAN Management uses the NT
challenge/response (NTCR) authentication. NTLM authenticates a user without
receiving the user's password over the network. Instead, the computer must perform
a calculation that proves it has access to your Matrox Iris GT, secured with NTLM.
(The calculation is based on the user name, password, and domain name.) NTLM
compares the expected result for the user (stored in a special database on the
domain controller) to the result sent by the client. If the two results are identical,
authentication is successful. NTLM consists of three steps: negotiation, challenge,
and authentication. All three steps are handled by Microsoft Internet Explorer and
should be invisible to the user.
•
Use Basic authentication
protocol
. Basic authentication uses a list of user names
(or, in the case of Matrox Iris GT the single "admin" user account) and a single
system password that you set for Matrox Iris GT.
Note that if NTLM authentication is enabled, a valid domain name must be set on the
General network settings
page.
List of recognized default pages (separated by;)
Specifies the types of files that a browser will try to load as the default page for a folder
(for example,
index.htm
or
default.htm
). A default page is seen automatically when a web
browser is directed to a folder without a file name (for example,
http://IrisName/
).
Multiple entries must be separated by a semicolon (;).
List of administrative users (separated by;)
Specifies all the administrative users for your Matrox Iris GT web server. An
administrative user has access to all virtual folders, regardless of whether the
administrator is listed as one of the allowed user for that virtual folder. Multiple entries
must be separated by a semicolon (;). Use @* to allow all users access and
@[group_name] to allow all users of a particular group access (for example,
@Administrators or @PowerUsers).
Folder to store web server log file
Specifies the location to store the log file for the web server.
Maximum number of bytes for web POST
Specifies the limit for the amount of information that can be sent from an ASP page to a
web server using the POST method of the HTTP protocol, in bytes.
