Appendix F: The breakout board
Powering Matrox Iris GT and connecting its
I/O signals to the breakout board
To power your Matrox Iris GT and connect its I/O signals, perform the following:
1. Connect the gray, red, and yellow-brown wires of the digitial I/O and power cable
to the J16, J17, and J15 wire terminals (receptacles) of the breakout board’s smart
camera connector.
a. To insert a wire, press down on the orange flange with a small tool or pen.
b. Insert the un-insulated and tinned wire tip into the hole before releasing the
orange flange. The wire is now attached to the wire terminal on your breakout
board.
2. If only powering your Matrox Iris GT, wrap insulating tape around all the unused
wires of the Matrox Iris GT digital I/O and power cable. Otherwise, connect them
to the appropriate wire terminals of the breakout board’s smart camera connector;
for information, see the
section (later in this chapter).
3. Connect the digital I/O and power cable to your Matrox Iris GT.
4. Connect the external power supply, included in the Matrox Iris GT starter kit, to
the power source.
5. Connect the external power supply to the DC power socket of the breakout board
power source connector (J18).
