Insert the new keystick into the control panel. The control panel will
display 0000 5553.

Locate the push button that is on the back side of the control panel. It is
located directly behind the front side of the keystick position.

Depress the push button for 3-4 seconds.

The control panel will return to a function 01 display.

Models 840/SB3 System Unit – Power Subframe Assembly (PB1)
1.
Print out a rack configuration sheet so that you know where all devices and
cards are located in the system rack.
2.
Power the off system (see “Powering On and Powering Off the System and
Logical Partitions” on page 922).
3.
Disconnect the AC power cord.
4.
Remove the front and rear system covers (see “Models 840/SB3 – Covers” on
page 690).
Refer to “Assembly 6: Models 840 and SB3 Processor Tower– Final Assembly,
Front” on page 828 and perform the following steps.
5.
Remove the Bulk Power EMC access plate covering the AMDs and bulk
power supplies.
6.
Remove the screws from the bulk power supplies and AMD assemblies.
7.
Slide out the bulk power supplies and AMD assemblies far enough so that
they are disconnected from their power connectors.
Refer to “Assembly 7: Models 840 and SB3 Processor Tower – Final Assembly,
Rear” on page 832 and then perform the following steps from the

of
the system.

Remove the Battery Backup EMC access plate.
9.
Remove the battery.
CAUTION:
The weight of this part or unit is between 18 and 32 kilograms (39.7 and 70.5
pounds). It takes two persons to safely lift this part or unit. (RSFTC204)
10.
Remove the battery charger.
11.
Remove the AC box.
12.
Remove the Rear AMD EMC access plate.
13.
Remove the rear AMDs.
Refer to “Assembly 7: Models 840 and SB3 Processor Tower – Final Assembly,
Rear” on page 832 and perform the following steps from the rear of the
system.
14.
Remove the CEC Regulator EMC access plate that covers the power
regulators.
15.
Mark the regulators and their locations so that you can reinstall them in the
proper locations.
16.
Remove the power regulators and SPCN card.
17.
Carefully remove the top row of screws that are inside the CEC Cage.
Don’t
allow the screws to be dropped down inside the system.
