The system cannot automatically perform an IPL after a
local power failure occurred.

After a system power loss, the IPL function takes longer
than usual.
Check the system product activity log for battery power
unit problems.
Cannot Perform IPL from the Control Panel (No SRC)
1.
Perform the following:
a.
Verify that the power cable is plugged into the power outlet.
b.
Verify that power is available at the customer’s power outlet.
2.
Start an IPL by doing the following:
a.
Select Manual mode and IPL type A or B on the control panel (see
iSeries
Service Functions
).
b.
Power on the system (see “Powering On and Powering Off the System and
Logical Partitions” on page 922).
Does the IPL complete successfully?
No
Yes
↓
This ends the procedure.
3.
Have all the units in the system become powered on that you expected to
become powered on?
Yes
No
↓
Go to “Analyzing Power Problems” on page 37 and find the symptom
that matches the problem.
This ends the procedure.
4.
Is an SRC displayed on the control panel?
Yes
No
↓
Exchange the following FRUs one at a time (see “Chapter 4. Removal
and Installation Procedures” on page 617):
a.
SPCN Panel Card (SPNLCRD).
b.
Power Supply in the system unit.
This ends the procedure.
