5.2 MEASURING UNIT TESTS
5.2.1 T1 – FAULT DETECTOR TEST
The Fault Detector responds to sudden changes in current levels. Slow changes are not picked up.
1.
Connect the relay as shown in Figure 4–3: PHASE TO GROUND TEST CONNECTIONS on page 4–12.
2.
Set the relay into test mode 38 (the fault detector). The relay displays FAULT DETECTOR ON
3.
Protection Settings:

4.
Set the voltages as follows:
VA = 67 V rms
∠
0°
VB = 67 V rms
∠
–120°
VC = 67 V rms
∠
+120°
5.
Slowly increase
I
op
to 1.2 (0.40) A rms, at approximately 0.1 (0.01) A per second. Slowly decrease the current to 0 A.
The A1 contact should not close.
6.
Immediately increase
I
op
to 1.5 (0.2) A rms. The A1 contact should close momentarily.
7.
Slowly increase
I
op
to 2.5 (0.4) A rms. The A1 contact should close until current is removed.
8.
Reduce
I
op
to 0.
5.2.2 T2 – IT TRIP SUPERVISION TEST
1.
Settings:
Z1DISTANCE
(104)
Z1GROUND = YES
CURSUPVIS
(501)
IT_PICKUP = 0.25 (0.05) A
2.
Connect the relay as shown in Figure 4–3: PHASE TO GROUND TEST CONNECTIONS on page 4–12.
3.
Set the relay into test mode 34 (IT Detector). The LUI should display IT DETECTOR ON
4.
Set the voltages as follows:
VA = 67 V rms
∠
0°
VB = 67 V rms
∠
–120°
VC = 67 V rms
∠
+120°.
5.
Set
I
op
to 0.40 (0.08) A rms and apply to the relay. The A1 contact should close. Lower
I
op
to 0.15 (0.03) A rms, at
which point the A1 contact should open.
6.
Reduce
I
op
to 0.
