IPv6 Addressing
•
If the link-local address for an interface changes, duplicate address detection is performed on the new
link-local address and all of the other IPv6 address associated with the interface are regenerated
(duplicate address detection is performed only on the new link-local address).
•
Until DAD process is completed, an IPv6 address is in tentative state and can not be used for data
transfer. It is recommended to limit the configured value.
Example
The following example configures the number of consecutive neighbor solicitation messages that are
sent on an interface while duplicate address detection is performed on the unicast IPv6 addresses of the
interface to 10.

ipv6 host
Global Configuration mode command defines a static host name-to-address mapping in
the host name cache. Use the
no
form of this command to remove the host name-to-address mapping.

— Name of the host. (Range: 1 - 158 characters)

ipv6-address1
— Associated IPv6 address. The address is specified in hexadecimal using 16-bit
values between colons. When the IPv6 address is a Link Local address (IPv6Z address), the
outgoing interface name must be specified. Refer to the usage guidelines for the interface name
syntax.
•
ipv6-address2-4
(optional) — Addition IPv6 addresses that may be associated with the host’s name
