Protected Ports Commands
This section describes protected port configuration. Protected ports are not designed to forward traffic to
each other, even when configured on the same VLAN. However, forwarding to unprotected ports as long
as the ports are in the same group. In as much, unprotected ports can forward traffic to both protected
and unprotected ports. By default, ports are configured as unprotected.
5-281 switchport protected (Global Config)
Create a protected port group. The groupid parameter identifies the set of protected ports. Provide a
name value pair to assign a name to the protected port group. Naming convention can use up to 32
alphanumeric characters, including blanks. The default is undefined.
Note:
Port protection occurs within a devicve. Protected port configuration does not affect traffic between
ports on two different switches. Traffic forwarding is not possible between two protected ports.
No
command removes a protected port group.
switchport protected groupid name name
no switchport protected groupid name name

Enter Group ID.

Enter a name up to 32 characters in length.

The default is Unprotected.
