CUSTOMER COMPLAINT:
CAUSE:
As a precaution, the ADVANTECH™ computer program
checks to see that the Lid Switch is functioning between
the end of the previous cycle to the beginning of the 1
st
spin cycle of the current cycle. If the Lid Switch does not
open during that period of time, the
OFF code will
appear prior to the spin, the cycle will terminate and a
service cycle will need to be run to clear the machine’s
computer error code.
This can occur either from an extremely rare incident of
the lid switch contacts welded shut, or more likely a
customer loading a machine prior to the end of a cycle,
then closing the lid and not opening it again prior to the
start of a new cycle.

to show that the Service Cycle has been started. Within
the next 60 seconds the Warm (S2) pad must be
depressed.
LP will now be displayed, and within the next
60 seconds the Hidden (S6) pad (figure 2) must be
depressed. The cycle count now displays numerically
again, the Hidden (S6) pad must be depressed again within
10 seconds of the last depression (therefore, the S6 pad
needs to be depressed twice, successively within 10
seconds). The cost of the cycle will now be displayed
indicating a successful reset, and the service access panel
can then be secured. The lid should be opened at the end
of this procedure if clothes are in the machine already.
Otherwise the next user to load the machine will open the
lid. This will satisfy the built-in lid switch safety check.
NOTE: The pad numbers correspond as indicated in
the diagram of figure 2.

Machine shows OFF code and is placed out of service
Machine shuts off in the middle of a cycle and shows
OFF in the display. See figure 1. Machine can’t be
turned on, and if money is placed into the unit while the
OFF code is displayed, the money is lost.
If an OFF code (see figure 1) is present on an
ADVANTECH™ machine, the service access panel on
the meter-case needs to be opened and the small white
rocker switch needs to be activated. The cycle count will
display numerically, and the
Hot indicator will begin blinking
