GAS DRYERS
1. Remove red cap from gas pipe.
2. Connect the gas supply to the dryer. For
L.P. gas installations, be sure to use pipejoint
compound that is resistant to the action of
L.P. gas. If flexible metal tubing is used, be
certain there are no kinks in the tubing.
3. If it is necessary to open the toe panel for
service, use a putty knife to press on the toe
panel locks, located at the top corners of
the panel. Pull downward on the toe panel
to open it. The toe panel is hinged at the
bottom.
4. Open the shutoff valve in the gas supply
line.
5. Use a non-corrosive leak detection fluid to
check for leaks. Bubbles around connec-
tions will indicate a leak.
NOTE: Never test for gas leaks with a flame.
6. If a leak appears, shut off gas valve controls
and adjust connections. Then check con-
nections again. Close toe panel. All con-
nections must be wrench tightened.
NOTE: The dryer door must be closed for the
dryer to operate. When the door is open, the
dryer will stop, but the timer will continue to run.
To restart the dryer, close the door, and push
the START button.
7. Connect the exhaust vent system to the
dryer exhaust outlet and the exhaust hood,
using 4
″
(10.2 cm) clamps. Use caulking to
seal the exterior wall opening around ex-
haust hood.
8. Carefully move the dryer into its final posi-
tion. Place a level on top of the dryer, first
side-to-side, then front-to-back. If the dryer
is not level, adjust the legs up or down until
it is level.
9. If the burner does not ignite and you can
feel no heat inside the dryer, shut off the
dryer for five minutes. Check to make sure
that all of the gas supply valve controls are
on, and that the electrical cord is plugged in.
Repeat this five-minute test.
10. If the drying time is too long, make sure that
the lint screen is clean, and there is no
obstruction to airflow, (i.e. kinked venting,
foreign material in vent, vent hood stuck
closed, or vent tubes too long; see page
2-13).
11. Lift the service door up at the back and
remove it from the metercase. Install the
chosen money acceptor, as instructed in
the appropriate money acceptor section of
this Job Aid.
