Refrigerant charge
RUA-CP1701H* / RUA-CP2101H* units are designed for use with R410a only.
DO NOT USE ANY OTHER REFRIGERANT in these units.
•
R410a is only compatible with oils selected by the compressor manufacturer (POE –
Polyoilester oil)
•
Never open system to atmosphere while it is under vacuum.
Do not vent R410a into the atmosphere.
•
If an incident occurs on the refrigerant circuit generating a possible contamination of oil, do
an oil test, and if necessary, replace oil in the circuit
In case of removing / adding refrigerant it is mandatory to have a water flow to prevent the
evaporator to be freezed-up and damaged
15.1.1.
Refrigerant leak testing
Units are shipped with complete operating charge of refrigerant R410a (see Physical Data tables supplied in the
installation instructions) and should be under sufficient pressure to conduct a leak test. If there is no pressure in the
system, introduce enough nitrogen to search for the leak. Repair the leak using good refrigeration practices. After
leaks are repaired, system must be vacuumed and dehydrated.
15.1.2.
Refrigerant charging
•
Before charging, be sure the vacuum is correct. Pressure should be equal to 1 mbar
When adding or removing charge, circulate water through the cooler at all times, or completely
drain the cooler to prevent freezing. Freezing damage is considered abuse and may void the
warranty.
•
Service Valves
There are two factory-installed service valves in each circuit. A liquid line service valve immediately ahead of the
filter drier and a suction line service valve on the evaporator. Each has a 1/4in valve connection for charging
refrigerant. Prefer charge on liquid service valve rather suction service valve.
There is no sight glass on the unit to check the level of charge, it is so necessary to realize charge on weight of
refrigerant introducing in unit.
Suction line service valve
Liquid line service valve
If charging the machine at the liquid line, use liquid only, if at the suction line use liquid with
reduced flow. This is to keep the gas mixture correct and not risk to send some liquid
refrigerant to the compressor.
