Example 1:
The Zone Sets named “Backup” on Switch A and Switch B are identical (that is, they both contain
the Zone named “UNIX” which contains the Member “11 22 33 44 55 66 77 88”). Because they are identical,
the zone merge is successful.
Example 2:
Switch A and Switch B both have active Zone Sets named “Backup”. Both Zone Sets contain the
identical Zone named “UNIX”(which contains the Member “11 22 33 44 55 66 77 88”), and the Zone Set on
Switch B also contains the Zone named “NT” with the Member “FF EE DD CC BB AA 99 88”. Since there is
no incompatibility, the zone merge is successful. The new enforced Zone Set on both switches contains both
Zone “UNIX” and Zone “NT”.
Example 3:
Switch A and Switch B both have active Zone Sets named “Backup”. The Zone Sets are different
(that is, they do not share any Zones with the same name). Since there is no incompatibility between Zones of
the same name, the Zones Sets will successfully merge into a new enforced Zone Set on both switches. The
enforced Zone Set “Backup” consists of the Zone “UNIX” from Switch A and the Zones “NT” and “MAC”
from Switch B.
