7.7.5 Corrective Procedure for NG (Not OK) Cases
If Overall Result is not OK (!), isolate the failure locations based on the displayed waveform and the
information in the Measurement Results window, and take a corrective action for each failure location.
After the corrective action is complete, execute Scanning Waveform again and confirm that Result
is OK (○)
this time.
If a failure is detected on the front side, this may mean that the glass surface of the CIS Unit assembly (Front)
is unclean or that the white level reference label or the black part (mold part) at the scanning position on the
CIS Unit assembly (Back) is unclean.
If a failure is detected on the back side, the opposite applies.
Both sides affects each other and consequently, when you clean image sensors, clean both front and back sides
simply based on the failure location ((Left), (Center), or (Right)).
The left, center, right in the waveform and Dirt Check Data on the Waveform Diagnosis window mean for both
front and back sides as seen from the front of the device.
Note: On the image of the back side captured by Scan Image, the left side means the right side as seen from the
front of the device.

If Result remains not OK (!) and does not
become OK (○)
If Result remains not OK (!) after taking a corrective procedure for the failure location, paper dust may
largely affect.
When scanned image does not have problem, check the following;
- White part should not be generated in black background part, or
- The white part should be less than 1 mm (8 dot at 200 dpi).
Either applies, the sensor does not have problem.
Note that even immediately after you finish cleaning, dust in the device can drop to the paper path if you
open and close the cover, and Result can remain not OK (!).
Open and close the cover a couple of times, clean the paper path, and then check again.
