Chapter 2: System Description
Specifications — Wastewater Sampler
Overflow Sampling
(Clean water streams free of particulates and meeting TSS requirements.)
Pressure
Drains at ambient pressure to gravity drain (<1 psi, under recommended
operating conditions)
Temperature
85 °C (185 °F)
a
Flow
>50mL/min
Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
Maximum 0.1% (1000 ppm), Solids maximum 200 µm soft particle size.
Flow must be sufficient to remove solids to meet the Analyzer
specification for TSS sampling.
Velocity Sampling
Pressure
Drains at ambient pressure to gravity drain (<1 psi, under recommended
operating conditions)
Temperature
85 °C (185°F)
a
Flow
0.454 to 1.36 m
3
/hour (0.3 to 3.3 gpm)
Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
Maximum 0.1% (1000ppm). Solids maximum 200 µm soft particle size.
Rejects hard particulates (sand or grit).
a
In applications with sample temperatures above 85° C (185° F), the 1-in. flexible sample tubing should not
be used. The samples should be plumbed with rigid piping suitable for the sample temperatures and any
corrosive properties the sample might exhibit.
Mounting Stand
A mounting stand is available, which accommodates an Analyzer; its reagents, dilution water, and check
standard carboys; and one sample filter panel. The mounting stand allows the Analyzer to be mounted at
various heights for convenience. For safety, the mounting stand must be bolted to the floor or a wall.
Regenerative Air Purifier Option
The air purifier option makes it possible for the Analyzer to operate using house air as the compressed gas
source. The air purifier removes carbon dioxide and moisture from the air so that it can be used as carrier and
sparge gas. When used as specified, the air purifier reduces carbon dioxide to <2% and 99.9+ % of the water
vapor. No consumables are required for its operation, but the house air must be oil-free.
To ensure proper operation of the Regenerative Air Purifier, the compressed air pressure must have a supply
pressure of 50 psi (2.5 Bar) - 100 psi (4.9 Bar). The required volume is dependent on actual sustained pressure.

As the drains are manual and are not connected out of the Analyzer, the filter cups must be inspected on a
regular basis.
