Chapter 9: Troubleshooting

To perform the (Check 2) Reactor Inlet Valve Leak Check

This test checks for leaks in the same area as the Gas Manifold Leak Check and it also checks for leaks in the
fittings on valve V4-R. This flow path is highlighted in

1. Ensure that the NDIR is plugged, as described in the

Before You Begin

section.

2. Press the

Reactor Inlet Valve

button to start the test. The Analyzer closes the following valves: V1-R,

V3-R, V4-R, V5-R, V6-R, and V7-SH. The Analyzer opens Valves V2-R and V7-R.

The Gas Control Module pressurizes the lines for 24 sec., and then valve V1-GD closes to trap the
pressure in the area being tested. The system holds for an additional 15 sec. If a major leak is detected
at this time, an "Analyzer failed to pressurize" warning appears and the test will end. During this 39-sec.
pressurization period, the timer remains at 00:00 and "Pressurizing . . ." appears under the timer.

3. When the system passes pressurization, the leak check begins, the timer starts, and "Testing . . ."

appears under the timer. The test lasts for 60 sec. The test passes if the drop in pressure is <= 2.0 psi.

4. If the test fails, but the Analyzer passed the Gas Manifold Leak Check, then check the connections on

V4-R and the connections between V4-R and V2-R, V3-R and V6-R. If all of those connections are
correct, the seal in V4-R may need to be replaced due to leaking O-rings.

5. To continue the series of gas leak checks, leave the plug on the NDIR end cap outlet gas line and

proceed to the next section,

“To perform the (Check 3) Reactor Bypass Leak Check.”

Otherwise, remove

the plug for normal operation.
