Chapter 2: System Description
Specifications — (2-Stream) High Temperature Clean Water Sampler
The High Temperature Sampler is intended for:
•
Cooling water
•
Low suspended solid samples
The High Temperature Clean Water Sampler specifications are not to exceed:
Pressure
Drains at ambient pressure to gravity drain
Temperature
85 °C (185 °F)
Flow
>50mL/min
Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
Maximum 0.1% (1000 ppm), Solids maximum 200 µm soft particle size
Wastewater Sampler Option
The Wastewater Sampler option is recommended for use with water samples that contain high levels of solids
and can be implemented in one of two ways: velocity sampling and overflow sampling. The preferred
velocity
sampling method
is designed for use with fast flow and samples containing total suspended solids (TSS)
maximum of 0.1% (1000ppm) and/or samples containing settleable solids of hard particulates (and/or grit). The
overflow sampling method
is for low flow streams. It also allows for use of an external pump (such as the GEAI
Exterior Peristaltic Sample Pump) when there is no sample flow. The Wastewater Sampler, therefore, meets TSS
requirements by creating clean water streams and samples free of particulates. The Wastewater Sampler is
substituted for the Clean Water Sampler and is available in a 2-stream or 5-stream configuration.
The Wastewater Sampler includes sample flow monitors with its own Fail Safe option. For additional
information, see
“Installing the Wastewater Sampler” on page 90
2-Stream Configuration
The 2-Stream configuration is capable of monitoring up to two sample streams in the Online mode. A vial port is
provided for calibration and verification using standards in 40-mL vials. Samples also can be analyzed if they are
in 40-mL vials using the vial port and Grab mode. A port is provided for automated measurement of a check
standard to ensure the Analyzer is operating properly and that it is in calibration.
5-Stream Configuration
The 5-Stream configuration permits monitoring of up to five sample streams in the in the Online mode. A vial
port is provided for calibration and verification using standards in 40-mL vials. Samples also can be analyzed if
they are in 40-mL vials using the vial port and Grab mode. A port is provided for automated measurement of a
check standard to ensure the Analyzer is operating properly and that it is in calibration.
