dC502 DADH Width Guide Calibration Procedure
Purpose
To recalibrate the DADH width guides, so that the correct document size can be determined
from the analogue width guide potentiometer. Refer to dC604 for registration setup.
Calibration is only necessary if:
• The values in the image processor NVM have not been set and are still zero.
• A new component has been installed to the DADH input tray.
• The characteristics of the potentiometer have changed.
If the calibration routine is not performed the image processor NVM values will be zero. This
will force the DADH to use the average values programmed into DADH flash memory during
manufacture.
Description
An A4 LEF or 8.5” x 11” LEF document is placed in the DADH input tray and the width guides
adjusted to the same width as the document. The A to D value (maximum to minimum width in
mm) is derived from the width guide potentiometer and the process is repeated for an A5 SEF
or 8.5” x 5.5” SEF size document.
The two calibration values are stored in the image processor’s NVM. They are passed to the
DADH together with the market paper size setting whenever a Reset command is given (this
instructs the DADH to set all the output ports to their default off condition and to provide an
update of any NVM values including the cpm rate). If the image processor NVM values are
within a valid range (Table 1) the DADH will use the two values to establish a linear equation
that can be used to calculate (in mm) all the other valid document sizes.
Procedure
1. Enter diagnostics, GP 1.
2. Select, Diagnostics Routines, Copier Routines, dC502 DADH Width Calibration.
3. Select and touch the appropriate button to select A4 or 8.5” x 11”.
NOTE: The market paper size setting will default the document size buttons to the rele-
vant ISO or USA document sizes. Selection of either button will default all the displayed
document sizes.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Touch Exit when routine is completed.
