: Optimal Threading (approx-
imately 4 minutes’ duration)
14.2.9
Take note of the stitch length setting
Very important: Take note of the following stitch length settings for the
straight stitch
:
•
Stitch length approximately 3 for normal fabric thickness in the case of
cotton, e.g. towel
•
Stitch length approximately 4 for thicker fabrics, e.g. denim
•
Stitch length approximately 2.5 for thin fabrics, e.g. organza
W6 Tip
If you select a stitch length that it too short, the machine may jam and stitch
itself down. Furthermore, the needle plate or the hook may be damaged in
the process.
14.2.10 Thread tension
Checking the thread tension:
The thread tension is set at the correct value (4) at the factory.
Check the thread tension as follows:
•
Set the Zigzag program
•
Stitch width 3,5; Stitch length 2,5
•
Always sew the zigzag stitch on a cotton tea towel folded double.
The thread tension is set properly when the dots can be seen on the wrong
(lower) side of the fabric at the outer points of the zigzag stitch. In our
example, we have selected the colour “blue” for the upper thread and “red”
for the lower thread.
If the zigzag stitch (shown in red) is consistent on the wrong side of the
fabric, you will see a tiny blue dot of the upper thread at each outer point of
the zigzag stitch.
