Tension testing sewing thread | Is my thread

unwinding correctly?

Before commencing with sewing, always perform a tension test.

Required:

•

A pair of scissors

Carry out the following steps:

►

Pull the upper and lower threads approximately 8 cm to the left-hand
side.

!

It should be possible to pull both threads evenly and easily.

?

The threads cannot be pulled evenly and easily.

The thread unwinds badly or the sewing thread is of poor quality.

►

Turn the thread and invert it on the spool pin.

►

Use only W6 thread.

The tension test has been performed

W6 Tip

Inferior quality thread fluffs up or breaks frequently. This results in an
uneven seam and can lead to thread tension problems in the long term.
