Checking thread quality
Does your thread fluff up or break very quickly? This indicates poor quality
thread or that the thread is old (overlaid). Poor thread damages the thread
tension of your sewing machine in the long term.
Check the quality of the thread by pulling strongly on the thread with the
thumb nail and index finger nail.
Checking thread quality
The more it rolls up the poorer the quality of the thread.
Thread quality compared: left - high-quality thread | right - poor-quality thread
If your thread is of good quality but still hooks when running, then turn the
reel over once. This is very helpful if your thread has been wound incor-
rectly by the manufacturer and becomes fluffy (if the thread has not been
wound correctly, it cannot unwind smoothly).
W6 Tip
Use only high-quality W6 WERTARBEIT thread.
Inferior quality thread fluffs up or breaks frequently. This results in an
uneven seam and can lead to thread tension problems in the long term.

Inserting a new needle
Based on our experience, we recommend the use of W6 WERTARBEIT
needles, in order to proceed with troubleshooting.
The needle must be inserted up to the stop in the needle holder. When
doing so, the flat side of the sewing machine needle must point to the rear,
see „Selecting needles“ > „Inserting a needle“ (Page 50).
Use a W6 WERTARBEIT needle that matches your fabric.
