3.2 Getting Started
3.2.1 Turning Power On
Once the patient monitor is installed, you can get ready for monitoring:
1. Before you start to make measurements, check the patient monitor, SMR and plug-in
modules for any mechanical damage and make sure that all external cables, plug-ins
and accessories are properly connected.
2. Plug the power cord into the AC power source. If you run the patient monitor on
battery power, use two batteries and ensure that the batteries are sufficiently charged.
3. Press the power on/off switch on the monitor’s front. The technical and physiological
alarm lamps respectively flash blue and red once simultaneously, and the system gives
a beep as well.
4. The monitor shows the product name and then enters the main screen.

Do not use the patient monitor for any monitoring procedure on a patient if you
suspect it is not working properly, or if it is mechanically damaged. Contact your
service personnel or us.
3.2.2 Starting Monitoring
1. Decide which measurements you want to make.
2. Connect the required modules, patient cables and sensors.
3. Check that the patient cables and sensors are correctly connected.
4. Check that the patient settings such as [
Patient Cat.
], [
Paced
], etc, are appropriate for
your patient.
5. Refer to the appropriate measurement section for details of how to perform the
measurements you require.
