Preservation: Pre installation
Protect components that are in storage from damage and deterioration. To protect stored components from
deterioration:

Coat all exposed steel parts (except stainless steel) with a thin layer of rust preventative oil.

Cover hydraulic fittings with oil impregnated corrosion protection tape or use a recognised corrosion
protection spray.

In cold environments, water operated oil coolers must be drained of coolant water to prevent freezing.
Antifouling paints
Do not apply copper oxide based antifouling paints.
Do not paint over the anodes.
Anti-seize compounds
Do not use anti-seize compounds that contain graphite, nickel, copper or metal flake. They cause
corrosion.
Anti-seize compounds, usually containing zinc flakes, are available for aluminium.
