5.2 Cleaning and Disinfecting
5.2.1 Cleaning and Disinfecting the Enclosure
Use the following procedures to clean and disinfect the enclosure of the instrument.

Cleaning
Wipe the instrument with a cloth that has been thoroughly wrung out after immersion in a
solution of domestic neutral detergent and water.
Do not use ether and benzine as they may damage the enclosure.

Disinfection
Wipe the instrument with a cloth that has been thoroughly wrung out after being sprayed with a
solution of alcohol and water or glutaraldehyde. Then, wipe the enclosure with a soft lint cloth.
DANGER

Pay attention not to have medical solution enter the equipment or connectors.
The electrical parts may short-circuit and cause damage to the equipment.

Never use organic solvents, thinner, toluene or benzene as it may damage the
resin.
•
Never use abrasive or chemical cleaner.
•
When sterilizing the entire room using a spray solution, pay close attention not to
have liquids get into the equipment or connectors. The electrical parts may
short-circuit and cause damage to the equipment or poor electrical contact of the
connector may cause malfunction.
5.2.2 Cleaning the Built-in Recorder
Printing residue adhering to the thermal print head lowers the print quality. Use a cleaning kit
recommended by Fukuda or a cotton swab dampened in alcohol to wipe away print residue.
CAUTION
Never use sandpaper as it will damage the heating element.
5.2.3 Cleaning the Display Unit
Use the supplied silicon cloth to remove dust and stains from the LCD screen. If the screen is
severely stained, wipe it with a cloth that has been dampened in ethanol or other alcohol and
thoroughly wrung out.
