Chapter 1 Features
● ABI (Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index)
The ABI is an index indicating the degree of stenosis or occlusion of the lower limb artery due to
arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO). A value of 0.90 or less indicates the probable presence of
occlusion or stenosis.

TBI (Toe Brachial Index)
TBI is an index to evaluate blood circulation disorders from the ankles to the peripheral arteries.

Post ABI Examination
During ABI examination, Post-stress interval recording are executed.
●
Calculation of aortic PWV (Pulse Wave Velocity)
The VS-1500 can measure the following two kinds of PWV:
PWV and PWV*: Aortic PWV measured from carotid pulse tracing, femoral pulse tracing
and PCG (heart sound

).
PWV* is a value corrected with diastolic BP.

R-R ECG Examination
This examination measures the R-R intervals of an ECG and output the examination reports on
the trend graphs and histograms.

Color LCD
The color LCD provides crisper images of ECG, PCG and pulse wave waveforms. The display
also makes it possible to easily check patient, electrode and recording status.

Built-in thermal array recorder
The 145 mm built-in thermal array recorder provides easily interpretable waveforms, detailed
measurement values, patient data and time-serial data on chart paper.
●
Connectable to Color Printer
The instrument can be connected to an optional color printer to enable direct printouts of
examination result reports in color without the need for a PC. When combined with our
designated printer, the LCD indicates how much ink remains and paper status.
●
Filing
The instrument comes with a CF card slot to enable storage of pulse wave examinations and
ECG examinations with waveforms and measurement values. Stored data can be located and
printed at any time.
●
Data Management with Personal Computer
By connecting multiple VS-1500 units and a PC to a network, you can centrally manage data
recording, searches, display and printing of all units on the PC.
This requires optional data management software (DMS) (VSS-10).

In addition to the above features explained for the VS-1500N, the following features will be also
available by installing the optional standard 12-lead ECG testing software (ECG Upgrade
Package: VSC-150).
