■ Notes on use
• FirstPass is DOCOMO’s digital authentication
service. Using FirstPass enables client
authentication by which a site authenticates the
FOMA terminal.
• FirstPass can be used for Internet connection from
the FOMA terminal or Internet connection with the
FOMA terminal connected to a PC. To use on a PC,
the FirstPass PC software included in the bundled
CD-ROM for N-09A is required. For more
information, refer to “FirstPassManual” (PDF)
contained in the “FirstPassPCSoft” folder in the
CD-ROM. (The “FirstPassManual” is in Japanese
only.) To view the “FirstPassManual” (PDF),
Adobe
® Reader® is required. If this software is not
installed on your PC, install the Adobe
® Reader®
in the bundled CD-ROM to view the file. Refer to
the “Adobe Reader
ヘルプ ” (Help) for usage, etc.
• When requesting a user certificate, carefully read
and agree to “The usage regulation” of FirstPass
displayed on the screen.
• PIN2 code (p.124) must be entered in order to use
a user certificate. Take great care to prevent
unauthorized use of your FOMA card (UIM) or
PIN2 code by third parties since all the actions
performed after PIN2 code entry will be assumed to
have been performed by you.
• If the FOMA card (UIM) is lost or stolen, you can
have your user certificates invalidated at the
docomo Information Center described on the back
cover of this manual.

Packet communications charges do not apply to
connect to the FirstPass center.

The following functions are not available while
connecting to the FirstPass center:
• Send/Receive i-mode mail (SMS can be sent/
received)
• Check new messages (new SMS can be
checked)
• Receive MessageR/F
• Download mail attachments manually
• Activate the Web To function from the mail detail
screen
• PushTalk
z
Always send a certificate request before
downloading a new or updated user certificate.
You cannot download a certificate that is not
requested.
z
Once the application for user certificate
invalidation is complete, you cannot access
FirstPass sites that require the user certificate.
z
To use FirstPass after completion of invalidation,
apply for issuance of the user certification and
download it again.

Pake-hodai, Pake-hodai full and Pake-hodai
double cover packet communications charges
incurred when connecting to FirstPass.
z
If you attempt to connect to a FirstPass site
without a user certificate, or if your user certificate
has expired, a warning message appears. You
may still be able to connect to the site and view a
page by selecting “YES” to establish a connection,
but your personal information (credit card number,
contact details, etc.) may not be sent securely. To
disconnect, select “NO”. Try to reconnect to the
site after downloading a user certificate from the
FirstPass center.
