4. MCPMs
MCPM Architecture
In a preset black transition, the lever is moved from one extent to the other to complete the
first half
of the transition. The lever arm is then moved back to the original extent to complete the transition.
We define the lever positions as follows:
1 At the middle of a PB cut transition:
• The program source cuts to the transition matte.
• Any audio overs or video effects will cut off.
2 At the end of a PB cut transition:
• The program bus cuts to the preset source.
• New audio overs or video effects will cut on.
3 At the first half of a PB fade transition:
• The program source fades to the transition matte.
• Any audio overs or video effects will fade off.
4 At the second half of a PB fade transition:
• The program source fades to preset source (from the matte).
• New audio overs or video effects will fade on.
Transitions Involving the Video Mixer
The video mixer combines program input with either preset input or a matte.
Program Out = Program In × T + Preset In × (1 – T)
... as T varies, in steps, from 0 to 1.
Transitions Involving Keyers
During a transition, a video keyer can transition either on or off the program bus.
A keyer can be configured to go off preset after the transition. (That way, the operator does not
have to do it.)
The keyer module(s) can accept either self-keyed signals (the key is derived from the fill) or signals
with separate keys. In either case, it is luminance data that is used to create the key. This is true for
logos and for video keyers.
The MCPM processes video keyers and logo keyers much the same way. The source differs: a
video keyer (key and fill) comes from discrete video sources and a logo is graphic, static or ani-
mated, stored in memory.
The MCPM configuration software provides a few keyer parameters that apply to both logos and
video keyers:
• Opacity.
• Video clip.
