4. MCPMs

Overview

MCPM-MK-SD

The MCPM-MK-SD is a 1-slot module. MCPM-MK-SDs are also named “mixer/keyers” or
“branding engines.” The MCPM-MK-SD processes standard definition (SD) video. The MCPM-
MK-SD is a lower-cost and smaller alternative to the MCPM-SD, but has a reduced feature set:

• One logo generator, not two.
• No squeezeback generator.
• No analog outputs.
• No Dolby E decoders (and no Dolby metadata output).
• No “program monitor” output. (The clean-feed output can be used as a program monitor.)
• No AES outputs (except for monitor/meter output).

Although it has no 10BaseT connector, those connectors on other MCPMs are not used for any-
thing. Otherwise, it has all the many features found in the MCPM-SD.

Figure 4-6 shows the MCPM-MK-SD (Mixer/Keyer):
